Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
Our RE curriculum provides a broad and balanced education about a range of faiths, religions and cultures. Children are encouraged to reflect on their own beliefs and those of others in a respectful way through lessons and visits e.g local church and mosque visits. We also use Share and Tell, Circle time discussions and Achievement assemblies.
We have a growing number of pupils with additional languages which we celebrate and actively use school resources to promote their learning and full integration into school life.
Through assemblies and topics taught in class the children develop an understanding of a range of cultures to help them prepare for life in modern Britain.
Democracy
Children are involved in democratic processes that occur within our school life e.g. voting for school councillors and vice chair councillors, Eco-team members and whole class rewards.
The school council is led by two members of staff and adheres to democratic processes, reporting its actions to the whole school.
Our parent/carers are encouraged to share their views through Parent View and questionnaires throughout the year.
Individual Liberty
Pupils have key roles and responsibilities in school e.g. school council, daily classroom monitors.
At school we educate and provide boundaries within which children are actively encouraged to make safe and responsible choices within a supportive environment.
Pupils are enabled to make safe choices to access a range of clubs e.g. choir, gardening, football and also to participate in independent learning activities within their classrooms. Children are taught how to conduct themselves safely when using the internet.

Some assemblies are delivered with a focus on the law e.g. reminders regarding playground rules and “Star of the week” assemblies where children are selected as good role models for following the school values.
Mutual Respect
Our PSHE curriculum embodies values of mutual respect though units of learning such as relationships and being a responsible citizen.
Our sports coaches and teachers actively promote an attitude of equality and fairness. We celebrate and reward success.
